Gov. Bill Lee Visited Agricenter Today
MEMPHIS, TN – Governor Bill Lee spent time at Agricenter to tour the facility and visit with partners located on the campus. Agricenter President, John Butler showed him the innovation center at Helena Agri-Enterprises and the automated greenhouse at BASF (formerly Bayer Crop Science).
Governor Lee finished the tour by talking to students that were attending a class on campus. He encouraged the 3rd graders participating to ask questions about what agriculture is and where their food comes from. He said, “If we can know more about [where our food comes from] we can know more about how to be healthy adults.”
Governor Lee stated, “Agricenter is an important piece in the transformation of the Ag industry and Memphis area.” Adding, “Agriculture is a very important sector of the economy. For kids to understand what agriculture is and where their food comes from, and even consider Ag as part of their future, that is important.”
John Butler, President, says “It was an honor to host Governor Bill Lee and his team on the campus today. It is incredible to have the Governor of our great state dedicated to promoting a stronger Ag industry in Tennessee.”
