Memphis-Shelby County AgTech Summer Youth Program

Inspiring words from Bob Wilson, CEO of H.Saga/Port Alliance who spoke at the Memphis-Shelby County AgTech Summer Youth Program graduation in 2019.

The Memphis-Shelby County AgTech Summer Youth Program is a 6-week youth employment and workforce develop program hosted by Agricenter International. What started in 2017 as a pilot program graduated 11 students on four key components: career readiness, agriculture, life skills (financial awareness), and STEM activities including drone building and operation. Today AgTech Summer Youth Program is in it’s 3rd year of educating students. Each year students are selected from varying regions across the Shelby County area.  Previous students were also welcomed back for an internship as well.

The students were on campus from 9am-3pm giving them a 30-hour, paid work week with lunches provided daily. They had weekly field trips and community service outreach throughout the duration of their time in program.
